INVITATION LETTER UPDATES (*updated)
>> Sunday, 28 March 2010
NOTE: from now onwards, if you have any questions please leave them in the comment section below. this is to avoid redundancy, and so that we can share the information with everyone. please read the post carefully. thanks for your time.
As of 28 March 2010, here are the latest updates on the matter of Invitation Letter:
A) due to the new rulings, agents in Moscow can no longer issue Invitations without hotel bookings.
we have spoken with the agency which our seniors used to hire last year, and unfortunately they cannot offer the same service this time around.
however, we suggest that you consider booking apartments with them (check out http://www.allrussiahotels.com/) if you have a large number of guests (e.g more than 4 persons) because some of the apartments, ranging from 2-4 room apartments are quite good, and seems worth the cost.
B) if your parents are going to stay at the hostel, you can apply for Invitation Letter from the University starting from THE END OF APRIL.
NOTE: the Uni will only issue Invitation to immediate family members (i.e. Parents & Siblings. Mr Bespaliuk said NO to uncles/aunts/friends).
what you need to have/do in order to apply from the University:
1. Copy of parents' passport
2. Document proving that the guests are your parents
(Mr. Bespaliuk stated that he needs the copy and a translation of your birth cert for this). **in special cases, e.g. step-parents/adopted child, he said that you can get support documents from the embassy, but we strongly suggest you meeting him in person to confirm the status, to avoid frustration.
**if your parents/siblings are staying in countries other than Malaysia (e.g brother/sister studying in UK), he will also need a document stating the residency of your guest in that particular country.
3. documents 1 and 2 to Mr. Bespaliuk (remember, only starting from the END OF APRIL or he will just tell you that you are too early)
4. the same documents, with the Dean's signature to Room 7
5. get and fill Заявление from Room 7
6. the fee is around 200rubs, processing takes 2 weeks (that's what he said)
**the Visa issued using this Invitation is a Private Visa. so it is Single-Entry.
**valid for travel in all parts of Russia. (e.g. St. Petersburg)
** we have confirmed with the Russian Embassy in KL, and they say that they don't require an original copy of the invitation. so you can just scan it. read [this] for further information from the embassy.
C) if options A and B isn't for you, you can still opt to apply from agent in Malaysia (as stated in previous post), or from hostels/hotels that provide Visa Support.
D) you can try applying online from [http://www.realrussia.co.uk/visa/visa_support2_tourist.asp]

if invitation issued by travel agency in Malaysia, and not by our dean university,is it possible for our parent to stay in Hostel 39? thanks
azree
yes, possible. but only for immediate family members. and u need to show the documents confirming the r/ship to the Dean in order to get permission to stay in the hostel.
inivitation letter through universiry is PRIVATE visa which is different from TOURIST visa.. may I know the main difference btw them? So in the visa application taken from russian embassy in malaysia, there is a blank for type of visa applied, if my invitation is from university, I shall fill in with PRIVATE instead of TOURIST , am i correct?
THANKS FOR INFORMATION.
Is it possible for my uncle/ aunt to stay in my room, instead of the guest room?
Tryphena
By the way, how do we get a translation copy of our birth cert? Can we translate it ourselves?
SENG HAU: as far as i know, the differences are
1. private visa is single-entry only
2. the duration: tourist visa is 30 days whereas private (again, if not mistaken 90 days)
yes, if your invitation is from the Uni, you have to apply for Private Visa instead of Tourist Visa
Thank you aini hanan,
Another question,
If the invitation done through ONLINE agency, and my parents would prefer staying in hostel dom 39. Upon arrival, can we do the REGISTRATION(Within 3 days) via UNIVERSITY?
what are the options of registration if cant do via university?
#assumed my invitation is thru online agency.
thanks.
uncle/aunty/friends are definitely not allowed to stay in dom 39?
thanks.
TRYPHENA, YING QIAN: based on the meeting we had with the Dean, only parents and siblings are allowed to stay at the hostel.
even if the invitation letter is not issued by Uni (e.g. Invitation online or thru agent), you will need to provide documents (i.e. birth cert) confirming r/ship with parents & siblings to the dean in order to get permission to stay at the hostel.
if you have any doubts on this matter, i suggest you meeting up with the dean, explaining your situation. could help, who knows :)
TEE SENG HAU:
yes, you can do the registration at the university. we will update the blog on the procedure as soon as we get the most precise info.
an alternative is a Registration Office in Leninsky Prospekt. they charge 15USD per passport.
thanks for the info Hanan.
do u have news about the hostel in Yugo? I remember v submitted names last time.
As far as am concerned, for private visa, the passport validity must be at least 18months. Is it still 18 months or 7 months as said by the Russian Embassy in KL? My dad's passport will be expiring next year October. Will our uni issue the invitation letter for my dad? Can he register through our uni as well with validity less than 18months?
YING QIAN: the names that you submitted earlier were actually a preliminary survey (we mentioned that we need the names in order to know how many guests are coming so we could book an appropriate hall for the graduation)
as for the hostel, we will collect the names of people who wants to stay in the hostel soon (will put up announcement in this blog). and i am afraid that the same rules apply for that hostel as well.
i'm not being negative but when it comes to this hostel, we're dealing with Mos-Lanka and as we all know, there's no guarantee when we deal with them. i suggest u come up with a plan B, just in case.
but then again, when we collect the names later, you can just try your luck and give the names anyway, (bearing in mind that the worst might happen)
again, not being a pessimist but it's the reality :S
TRYPHENA: you can call the russian embassy in KL and check. i don't have that info with me.
Thanks Hanan.
Minimum 18 months validity was actually being told by our Dean. Since it's our uni that will issue the invitation letter, as well as registering through our uni, so whom shall we refer to?
Thanks so much hanan.
I know what to do =)
has anyone done the invitation letter via online(which was mention above)?just need some feedback from you guys, whether it is reliable or not,or do you have any problems doing visa in the embassy.
as for online link above,i cant find their office's contact or address.
im actually from M1,sorry to crash here guys
tryphena: can u try and ask the dean? sorry for the trouble.
nansrizal: as far as i know, end of last year when we had a PPIM program at the embassy, the PPIM committee applied for the invitation letter from that site. so until then, it still worked. not sure if most recently ada orang buat tak.
p.s. no prob, all info are meant to be shared. if u have any, u can share them as well. thx :)
thanks hanan.btw our dekanat(M1) said they can make double entry invitation letter meaning a private visa with double entry.i dont know if its true or not but seems to be contradictory with your dekanat.
thanks again and glad to share the info.
Is online application for invitation trustworthy? Anyone tried it before?
Thanks hanan. I'll find the dean then.. :D
earlier in December/January, Awe used the getrussian.com to get invitation for some guests coming from Malaysia. so until then, it still worked.
but if you have doubts with the online application, the most reliable source would be the agent recommended by Russian Embassy in KL.
hey, tryphena kinda already asked this question but i can't find the answer. how do we do the birth ceritificate translation? is there like a template or something?
dean already said during the meeting which all 6 year students attended that no translation of birth cert needed.
i used getrussian.com last time for symposium ppim. alhamdulilah, it worked.
for registration, just go to their office & they will make for you. and your guest can stay anywhere...
then, ada ter'usha' juga kat computer diaorg.. diaorg pakai website ni..
